After 14 seasons in the NHL, long-time Center David Krejci has announced he will not be returning to the Boston Bruins but will be going home to play in the Czech Republic. Krejci was drafted 33rd overall by the Boston Bruins in 2004. He did not play his first game with the big club until the 2006-2007 season, where he played in six total games. Krejci joined the team full-time in 2007-2008 and remained with the organization throughout his 14-year career.
During his time with the organization, Krejci skated in 962 games with 215 goals, 515 assists, totaling 730 points. He was a dynamic play-maker with a special ability to feed his teammates the puck. Not only did he have the amazing play-making ability, but 46 was also well known for his post-season performances. In both 2011 and 2013, Krejci led the NHL in post-season scoring. This feat helped the Bruins get to the final in both years and set them over the edge to win it all during the memorable 2011 Stanley Cup run. In addition to the win and run to the Stanley Cup, Krejci was also part of the team for the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals as well where ultimately, they lost to the St Louis Blues. Overall, Krejci was an integral part of this Boston Bruins team and will be sorely missed going forward.
This is not the end of David Krejci’s hockey career, but it is the end of his time in the NHL. Today, David announced that he plans on returning to the Czech Republic in front of his friends and family. With the departure of David Krejci, he leaves a massive vacancy on the Bruins’ newly formed second line with recently re-signed Taylor Hall and Craig Smith.
