It was a night of costly turnovers and bad plays for the Bruins as they lose 6-1 to the Dallas Stars, closing out a three-game road trip on a sour note. Tyler Seguin tallied two goals and an assist while goaltender Jake Oettinger made 25 saves. Linus Ullmark had a tough game as he allowed four goals on 15 shots. Jeremy Swayman was called in relief and made 12 saves.

GAME RECAP

The Stars’ Tyler Seguin opened up the scoring in the first few minutes of the game giving Dallas an early lead. Seguin was able to tap in a loose puck that got deflected by Bruins’ defenseman Urho Vaakanainen. A bad Boston turnover would be costly as Esa Lindell connected with Alexander Radulov who then scored on the breakaway, giving the Stars a 2-0 lead at the end of the period.

SCORE END OF FIRST PERIOD: BOS-0, DAL-2

SHOTS ON GOAL: BOS-10, DAL-11

Boston could not find their groove as the game continued to slip away. Dallas would widen their lead to 3-0 as Luke Glendening scored off a deflected shot by Miro Heiskanen. No reprieve from the Stars as Jamie Benn made it 4-0 after he wristed the puck in on Ullmark’s glove side. Jeremy Swayman took over netminder duties for the remainder of the game.

SCORE END OF SECOND PERIOD: BOS-0, DAL-4

SHOTS ON GOAL: BOS-8, DAL-9

Unfortunately, unnecessary penalties cost the Bruins as Derek Forbort went off for holding against Denis Gurianov. Dallas’ Roope Hintz wristed in his 20th goal of the season on the power play, making the score 5-0.

The lone Bruins goal came courtesy of Craig Smith who wristed the puck past Jake Oettinger not long after the Stars power play goal. Boston was able to keep Dallas from scoring on the man-advantage in the final period, however, it did not affect the outcome of the game. In the final minutes of the third period, Sequin would nab his second goal of the night sealing the win for the Stars.

FINAL SCORE: BOS-1, DAL-6

TOTAL SHOTS ON GOAL: BOS-26, DAL-29

Dallas has won five of their last six games while the Bruins have lost three out of their last six games.
