In their first meeting this season, the Boston Bruins won in dramatic fashion with mere seconds left to the game as they defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3.
GAME RECAP
Seconds after the puck dropped, the B’s were down a man as Charlie McAvoy was nabbed for hooking against Alex DeBrincat. Luckily no goal during the power play. Boston opened up the scoring when Charlie Coyle wristed the puck in Chicago’s net on a rebound by an initial shot from Connor Clifton at 04:12 in the first.
Moments later and after a tough four-on-one towards the Bruins net, Chicago’s Alex DeBrincat tied the game at one apiece, scoring his 34th goal of the season. The Blackhawks once again were on the power play as Boston’s Trent Frederic was sent to the box on a holding call against Alex Regula. Despite the man-advantage, Chicago was unable to take the lead and the first closed out with the game tied 1-1.

SHOT ON GOAL: BOS-8, CHI-10
Back pressure from the Blackhawks caused a turnover in the Bruins zone leading to a goal by Brandon Hagel at 04:12 in the second, giving Chicago a 2-1 lead. With the Bruins looking to tie the game, Boston would get that chance as they went on the power play for the first time tonight.
Henrik Borgstrom was called for hooking against David Pastrnak however the B’s were unable to score during the man advantage. Boston got back on the power play shortly after as Jake McCabe was nabbed for hi-sticking against Taylor Hall.
The Bruins’ Jake Ahcan tied the game for the Bruins, scoring his first NHL goal during the man advantage.
Boston was back on the power play for the third time as Connor Murphy was called for interference against Jake DeBrusk. Boston regained the lead as David Pastrnak tallied his 32nd goal of the season during the five-on-four action.
SCORE END OF SECOND PERIOD: BOS-3, CHI-2
SHOTS ON GOAL: BOS-9, CHI-3
Charlie Coyle was sent to the penalty box on a hooking call against Dylan Strome. Unfortunately with two seconds left to Chicago’s power play, the Blackhawks Brandon Hagel tallied his second goal of the night, tying the game 3-3.
With little over eight minutes left to the period, both teams would be down a player as Alec Regula went for tripping against Taylor Hall (who also went off for embellishment). No goal during the four-on-four.
As time ticked away the Bruins peppered the Chicago net however goaltender Kevin Lankinen was able to kick the puck out at every shot. At 19:42, the TD Garden exploded as David Pastrnak scored a late goal off a Taylor Hall feed, giving the B’s a 4-3 win in regulation.

TOTAL SHOTS: BOS-36, CHI-25
Jeremy Swayman made 22 saves while Kevin Lankinen made 32 saves. Boston is now 35-18-5 and have won eight out of their last 10 game while Chicago is 21-30-8, losing their last seven out of 10 games.
