The Boston Bruins sweep the regular series against the Winnipeg Jets winning with a final score of 4-2. Boston is now 11-2-1 in their last 14 games and are now 38-19-5 with two points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Game Recap

The Jets had a huge opportunity to get on board first as Nikolaj Ellers was awarded a penalty shot when Mike Reilly tripped him on the breakaway, however Linus Ullmark padded way the puck.

Bruins fans were concerned as David Pastrnak (who was playing in his 500th NHL career game) headed to the locker room late in the period. After an odd skating sequence, the 25-year-old right-winger looked to have a sort-of core injury. Luckily Pastrnak was back on the bench at the start of the second period. Both teams ended the first scoreless.

Brad Marchand would get the Bruins on the scoreboard after a two-on-one sequence towards the Jets’ net as Jake Debrusk fed Marchand the puck, making it 1-0 in the second period.

At 07:12 Trent Frederic made it 2-0 as Charlie Coyle (recovering from a hit) finds Frederic to finish the play. After dangling the puck around Winnipeg’s goaltender Connor Hellabuyck, the 24-year-old center tallied his fifth goal of the season.

The Bruins went shorthanded when Erik Haula was nabbed for interference against Hellabuyck. No goals during the Jets’ power play however Boston found themselves once again with one less player as Charlie McAvoy was called for tripping against Neal Pionk. The man-advantage was short-lived as Pierre-Luc Dubois skated off to the penalty box for cross-checking against Derek Frobort

No goal during the four-on-four play and the period ended with the Bruins on top 2-0 and outscoring the Jets 22-4.

END OF SECOND PERIOD SCORE: BOS-2, WPG-0

Winnipeg came out to play in the third period as they tied the game early in the third period. Adam Lowry would tip the puck from Evgeny Svechnikov’s shot and Nikolaj Ehlers tied the game after wristing the puck past Ullmark. Both goals came within a minute and 25 seconds of each other.

Boston got on the power play when Logan Stanley was nabbed for interference against Jack Studnicka. No goal during that power play however the team would get another chance as Brendan Dillon skated to the box for a delay-of-game penalty (puck over glass).

The Bruins capitalized on the man-advantage when Taylor Hall scored his 13th goal of the season, making it 3-2. With a little over one minute left to the period, the Bruins were on the penalty kill when Erik Haula was called for tripping against Andrew Copp. The Jets would pull Hellabuyck out of the net giving themselves a six-on-four player advantage.

Despite having the extra attacker on the ice, the Jets were unable to send this game into overtime. Charlie McAvoy sealed the Bruins’ win as he scored on an empty net.
