Before the Annual NHL Awards, Bruins fans flooded social media with pro-Patrice Bergeron accolades regarding the legendary center being a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Trophy.

Bergeron not only finished first to claim his record-breaking fifth honor, but two other Bruins were honored – Defenseman Charlie McAvoy and Rookie Goaltender Jeremy Swayman.

McAvoy finished fourth in Norris Trophy voting and was named to the NHL’s All-Star Team.

Being named to the Second All-Star Team alongside Victor Headman, the 24-year-old blueliner finished the season averaging 24:39 total-on-ice time, with career highs in goal (10) and assists (46) in 78 games.

Swayman led rookie goalies with 23 wins, 2.41 goals against average, and a .914 save percentage. The Alaskan native is the first Bruins goaltender named to the All-Rookie Team since 2003-04 when Calder Trophy winner and current NESN analyst Andrew Raycroft.

The 23-year-old also earned recognition earning 210 votes and a Top 5 finish in Calder Trophy.

Of course, not every fan agrees with all the winners, and most took to social media to voice their disgruntled opinions. Some were a bit more lighthearted.

With the honors McAvoy and Swayman earned in the 2021-2022 season, Bruins fans should rejoice that the future isn’t completely bleak.

Plus, hopefully, we’ll get more goalie hugs, and who doesn’t love a good goalie hug?
