It sounds like the National Hockey League Boston Bruins will soon lock down another restricted free agent for at least another year, possibly two. Per Boston Globe B’s beat writer Matt Porter the Globe recently talked to Darren Ferris, agent of forward Jack Studnicka, and mentioned the negotiations have been going smoothly per Porter’s tweet below.

The 23-year-old second-round selection in 2017 has not accepted his qualifying offer and is in continued negotiations with the Boston organization. Studnicka, a 6′-2″ 194-pound Ontario native, has spent the last three seasons with the Bruins spending most of his time with the team’s top minor-pro affiliate, the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League. Jack’s statistics in both pro leagues have him at 34-62-96 in 117 games with Providence and 1-6-7 in 37 games at the NHL level with Boston.

With Studnicka’s three-year NHL entry-level expired, he’ll make a strong case at the upcoming Bruins training camp this fall to make the roster. If he cannot secure a spot with the big club and needs to be sent down to Providence, he’ll, unfortunately, be subjected to the waiver process before reporting to the B’s minor-pro affiliate. Other players that could be exposed to waivers if they don’t make the big club in 2022-23 are forward Oskar Steen, defenseman Jakub Zboril, and fellow blueliner Connor Clifton.
