The dog days of summer are winding down and the team has yet to announce two crucial re-signings of their returning Captain and their leading scorer. As fans await for any sort of news from the front office, the boys in Black and Gold are enjoying their time off across the ocean.

If you’re online and follow some of the players, both past and present, you would have been treated to a recent wedding celebration of former Bruins’ goalie Tuukka Rask and his wife Jasmiina Nikkila as they hosted family and friends in the beautiful backdrop of Capri, Italy.

Although he keeps his life private, reportedly Rask and Nikkila have been in a long-term relationship and have been dating since high school. The decorated goaltender largely keeps his family out of the spotlight however fans caught glimpses of the couples’ three children when newly-retired Rask was honored with ceremonial puck drop this past season against the New Jersey Devils.

Rask stepped away from hockey in February after returning from a hip procedure, however was unable to return to his usual full potential. He retired as the most winningest goalie in Bruins’ history. The 35-year-old Finnish-native has won more games (308), saves (14,345) and is second in shutouts (52) behind Tiny Thompson (74). He is also a two-time All-Star and the winner of the 2014 Vezina Trophy.

Details on when the couple officially married were not fully disclosed to the public, however the recent celebrations made their union more well known to the hockey community. Stories and pictures were shared throughout social media (most notably on Instagram and Twitter ) where former Bruins’ players were seen dancing and enjoying the festivities.

In a trip down memory lane former Bruins’ winger Milan Lucic documented the reunion. Lucic was surrounded by Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, Kevan Miller, David Krejci, David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy, Jaroslav Halak and  former defenseman Torey Krug, amongst others.

Both McAvoy and Marchand will miss the start of the new season after undergoing surgeries which will sideline them for at least 6 months. Lucic is currently playing with the Calgary Flames while Torey Krug is still with the St. Louis Blues. Both Bergeron and Pastrnak are expected to return to Boston in spite of both sides still being in negotiations. After playing in Czechia last year, there’s chatter out from the front office that the Bruins are looking to bring Krejci back to Boston.

MORE WEDDING BELLS

Congratulations goes out to Bruins’ defenseman Charlie McAvoy who recently got engaged to longtime college girlfriend Kiley Sullivan this past weekend in Capri, Italy. They’ve both been dating since they were students at Boston University in 2015.

“The most amazing day — can’t wait to marry my best friend,”

McAvoy is in recovery after undergoing a left shoulder arthroscopic stabilization procedure this past offseason and will be in recovery for about six months. He will sidelined for the beginning of the 2022-2023 season.

Bruins’ star winger Taylor Hall is marrying longtime girlfriend Rachel Rush today after getting engaged last June in Nantucket.
