The Boston Bruins announced today that the organization and restricted free agent defenseman Ian Mitchell have agreed on a one-year, one-way contract worth a reported $775,000. Mitchell and the Bruins avoid the arbitration hearing set for July 26th to settle his next pro contract.

The 5′-11″ 175-pound 24-year-old Alberta, Canada native was acquired in a trade that sent veteran forwards Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno to the Chicago Blackhawks. The former 2017 second-round selection of the Hawks appeared in 35 games at the National Hockey League level and posted 1-7-8 numbers. The right-shooting blueliner contributed 2-4-6 totals in five American Hockey League games with the Rockford Ice Hogs last season.
