Happy 60th birthday to former Boston Bruins right-wing Rick Tocchet! The rugged Tocchet arrived in Boston via a trade with the Los Angeles Kings for Kevin Stevens in January of 1996.

Unfortunately, the power forward was plagued by injuries during his time in Boston. Over the course of two abbreviated seasons in Boston—67 total games, Tocchet scored 32 goals and registered 22 assists. The Bruins traded Tocchet, center Adam Oates, and goaltender Bill Ranford in exchange for goaltender Jim Carey, forwards Anson Carter and Jason Allison, and a conditional draft pick on March 1, 1997. Tocchet was a four-time NHL All-Star and won a Stanley Cup as a member of the 1992  Pittsburgh Penguins. In 1144 career games, Tocchet scored 440 goals and helped on 512 others for an impressive 952 career points. A rough customer, the long time Philadelphia Flyer racked up 2970 penalty minutes over his career—good for number ten on the all-time NHL list. Tocchet is the current head coach of the Vancouver Canucks and is the leading candidate for the Jack Adams coach-of-the-year award this season.
