The Boston Bruins will aim to rebound from Tuesday night’s shutout against the Philadelphia Flyers when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh tonight. The Bruins have a 1-2-1 record in road games and a 4-5-1 record overall this season.

Head coach Jim Montgomery will shift the club’s lines yet again in hopes of sparking up some offense. Mark Kastelic will slide up to the top line to skate with Elias Lindholm and Brad Marchand. Johnny Beecher will also be on the move, slotting into the second-line skating with Pavel Zacha and David Pastrnak. Jeremey Swayman will be between the pipes tonight for his eighth start of the season. Swayman heads into this game with a .900 save percentage and a 3-3-1 record on the season thus far.

A big story coming out of today’s morning skate at Lenovo Center is that Morgan Geekie will be a healthy scratch tonight, with Max Jones replacing him in the lineup. The 6’3″ center has struggled to find his game as of late, only registering one assist and one point since the start of the season.

With shaking up the lineup from top the bottom, the Bruins key fourth line will be split up. Coach Montgomery hopes, “for players to take ownership of their game…and splitting up that Kastelic, Beecher, Koepke line we want their work habits to rub off on their linemates.”

Bruins center, Elias Lindholm, weighed in on facing the Hurricanes tonight saying, “it will be a good test playing a good team in Carolina…I think we are excited to get going and have a good matchup tonight.” The Bruin’s biggest off-season acquisition currently has two goals, three assists, and five points through ten games. For the team to click offensively in Carolina, Lindholm has to get going as well.

Another Bruin center who has not found his game this season is Charlie Coyle. He was projected the number two center entering training camp and in the regular season, Coyle has only posted one goal and zero assists in 10 games, all while averaging 17:15 of ice time per game.

Across the ice, the Carolina Hurricanes are coming off a successful road trip as they return home tonight to face the Bruins. The club went 5-1 on the road starting in Pittsburgh and ending in Vancouver. Carolina goaltender, Frederik Anderson, suffered a lower-body injury and missed the Canes’ final game of the trip against Vancouver. Center, Martin Necus, has 11 points this season and is looking to continue that streak as he is currently leading the Hurricanes in scoring. The starting goaltender for the Canes has not been announced at this time.

Bruins fans are not looking for history to repeat itself as the club went 2-3 last season against Carolina. This season, the Canes and Bruins have each scored a total of 27 goals respectively, but the B’s will need to get their offense going to notch this win in Carolina tonight. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM.
