The Boston Bruins have had quite the season thus far. The team’s current record is 15-13-3. Former head coach Jim Montgomery was relieved of his coaching duties back on November 19th. Since interim head coach Joe Sacco has taken over, the club has started to find their stride.

Under Jim Montgomery the Bruins started off the season with a 8-9-3 record. The team also was on a losing streak when Jim Montgomery was fired. They had lost four games in a row back in November, something that does not happen often to the B’s.

The Bruins are currently 8-4-0 under Joe Sacco. Sacco has a .778 points percentage since taking over in mid November. Goaltender Jeremey Swayman weighed in on how the team has started to find their game, “I’m very happy with how the team is evolving…with team play comes good individual play…it’s really good to see results especially with a back-to-back it was a really good momentum push for us.”

Players like David Pastrnak are helping the Bruins find their game and contributing in different ways. Pastrnak currently has 10 goals on the season and has registered 18 assists. Although he is not scoring as much as he usually does, he is helping the Bruins improve offensively with his assists. This allows other Bruins players to contribute offensively and creates more opportunities to score.

Trent Frederic has been able to produce more for the Bruins. He only has five goals on the season, but he was able to find the back of the net twice against the Flyers last week. Frederic said, “I thought it was good for the team, comeback win in the third period. I don’t think we had any doubt, which is a good feeling to have back.”

In addition to the team being able to improve offensively, they are also starting to play with more physicality. The bruins out hit the Flyers last week 33-18. They have the size, in a player such as Nikita Zadorov, to continue to be physical each game.

Overall, since Joe Sacco has taken over the Bruins have had more scoring chances and have been producing more offensively. It also appears that each line is clicking better. The team has started its longest road trip this season Monday. The road trip out west will be nine days long with six games.

Bruins captain Brad Marchand is hoping the B’s will use this trip as a measuring stick and an opportunity to get better, “every time we go out west their are some really good teams there obviously…very competitive it is one that I think is always a measuring stick.” The Bruins continuing their road trip and facing the Calgary Flames on Tuesday. This will be the fourth game of the trip for the squad. Puck drop is set for 9:00 PM EST.
