Amid the NHL 4 Nations Face-off, the Boston Bruins made four roster transactions on Tuesday. The team recalled forward Matt Poitras and defenseman Michael Callahan, recalled forward Riley Tufte on an emergency basis, and goaltender Michael DiPietro to be a practice player for the Bruins during the break. All players will report from the team’s AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins.

Poitras was assigned to Providence on February 9th as the league entered the 4 Nations Face-Off break. In 26 games this season with Boston, the 20-year-old has recorded one goal and 10 assists, totaling 11 points. However, since being recalled by the team in early January, Poitras has played in 12 games, recording seven assists. After being assigned to Providence, the Whitby, Ontario native appeared in one game, scoring a goal in the team’s 5-0 victory over the Bridgeport Islanders. In 24 games with Providence this season, Poitras has notched 21 points.

Callahan was also assigned to Providence on February 9th. The Franklin, Massachusetts native made his NHL debut on January 14th in the Bruins’ 6-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning. The 25-year-old has no points in eight games for Boston this season. After being sent down to Providence, Callahan appeared in one game, being held without a point in the team’s 5-0 win over Bridgeport. In 36 games for Providence this season, Callahan has recorded one goal and five assists and was named to the Atlantic All-Star team in the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic.

Tufte, recalled to Boston on an emergency basis, has appeared in three games for the Bruins this season, recording no points. The 6’6”, 230-pound winger last appeared in an NHL game in the Bruins’ 3-2 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues on November 16th. In 40 games in the AHL this season, the former 26th overall selection in the 2016 NHL Draft has recorded 15 goals and 13 assists.

DiPietro, who was recalled as a practice goaltender for the team as goalie Jeremy Swayman is representing Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off, has yet to appear in a game for Boston this season. The 25-year-old was recalled from Boston on January 23rd to backup Joonas Korpisalo in the team’s 2-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators but did not see game action. DiPietro was named to the Atlantic All-Star team for Providence this season, posting a 17-7-4 record with a 2.00 goals against average, a .928 save percentage and four shutouts. The Windsor, Ontario native leads all qualified AHL netminders in goals against average and is second in save percentage.
