The Boston Bruins are holding media availability today following the conclusion of their 2024-25 campaign. Select players and staff will speak to the media about a disappointing season that saw the team miss the playoffs for the first time since 2015-16. Among those addressing the media is Bruins center Elias Lindholm.
General Manager Don Sweeney signed Lindholm to a seven-year, $54.25 million contract that runs through the 2030-31 season. Brought in to anchor the top line with his dependable two-way play, there was plenty of excitement surrounding the signing, especially considering the void left down the middle after the retirements of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.
As Steve Conroy reports, Lindholm suffered a back injury in early August, which impacted his training camp and the start of the regular season. Lindholm was then “chasing it pretty much all season after that.” After skating on the first day of training camp, Lindholm ended up missed the remaining days of training camp.
Lindholm was cleared in time for the Bruins’ Opening Night in Florida and went on to skate in all 82 games this season. Had he not been injured prior to training camp, however, things might have looked very different for the Boden, Sweden native.
As the season wrapped up, the 30-year-old center began to show noticeable improvement. With ten points in his final ten games, Lindholm ended the year on a high note. He also started to develop chemistry with David Pastrnak—albeit later than expected—which sets the stage for a promising bounce-back season in 2025-26.
