The Boston Bruins are on T.D. Garden ice this afternoon for the final matchup against the visiting Colorado Avalanche in their second of a two-game season series. The Bruins head into the 3 p.m. matchup with a 3-6-0 record, looking to snap a six-game skid.
The Bruins faced the Avalanche just one week ago, where they handed the Bruins their second loss of a three-loss road trip, beating them 4-1. The loss to Colorado was just one of two losses for the Bruins this season that had a wider margin than one goal. The Avalanche come into the Garden with a 5-0-2 record, undefeated in regulation.
There are a few Bruins that have some notable highlights in the last few games. David Pastrnak recently passed Ray Bourque for sixth most goals in the Bruins franchise with 396. Charlie McAvoy, who has 306 career points, is one away from matching Glen Wesley for the sixth most points by a defenseman in franchise history. Elias Lindholm has been hot on the dot to start the season, leading the league with 99 face-off wins, helping the Bruins to a league-leading 328 face-off wins this season.
The lineup for the Bruins today is similar to what we’ve seen this season, with a couple minor tweaks. Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov had maintenance days yesterday and are both expected to be in the lineup.
Marat Khusnutdinov was skating in Lindholm’s spot yesterday, centering Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak, so it’s likely that he’ll be a healthy scratch today. Michael Callahan was recalled due to injuries sustained by Hampus Lindholm and Jordan Harris, and he was skating alongside McAvoy.
Head coach Marco Sturm confirmed that Hampus Lindholm will not play today. Along with that change, Johnny Beecher slots in for Jeffrey Viel, and Swayman gets the start between the pipes. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m., and the game can be seen on NESN and heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
