The Bruins are playing hockey in TD Garden today, against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes come to TD Garden with a 7-3-0 record, looking to build on their last win over the Islanders. The Bruins, 6-7-0, are looking to make it three-straight wins, following their 4-3 overtime victory on Thursday night against the Sabres.
This Saturday showdown is the first of three meetings between the Eastern Conferences foes, and also marks the first of two that’ll take place at TD Garden. Their last meeting took place at TD Garden, at the end of the tough 2024-25 season, and it’s result was a 5-1 Bruins victory.
The only lineup changes expected are Jeremy Swayman will be between the pipes and Johnny Beecher will be slotting into the fourth line. Marat Khusnutdinov will be sliding in to center David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie, after Elias Lindholm went down after an awkward hit at center ice. He’s had an MRI since leaving the game early, but no official word on his injury. Head coach Marco Sturm said, while it shouldn’t be too long-term, it could be a couple of weeks.
Mason Lohrei will once again be a healthy scratch, making it three-straight games that the 24-year-old defenseman hasn’t suited up. Jonathan Aspirot will slot in for him, alongside Henri Jokiharju.
Morgan Geekie looks to remain white hot, as he’s scored a goal in all six of his previous games, currently with 9-2-11 on the year, leading the Bruins in goals. His last game against the Hurricanes saw a career-high five-point game (1-4-5).
Pavel Zacha has also been steady, posting 2-9-11 through 13 games played. Geekie and Zacha are tied for second in points, trailing David Pastrnak (7-10-17), and Elias Lindholm comes in behind the tree with 4-5-9 through 13 games. Puck drop is set for 1 p.m., and the game can be found on NESN and heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
