The Boston Bruins have announced some roster transactions. Elias Lindholm, who was listed as week-to-week following a lower-body injury sustained in an awkward hit with Buffalo’s Jordan Greenway, has been placed on injured reserve. Along with that move, they’ve recalled forward Alex Steeves from the Providence Bruins.
Elias Lindholm was having a solid start to the 2025-26 campaign, and was playing an important role for the Bruins top-six forward group. His injury from his collision with Greenway will have an effect on this roster. Head coach Marco Sturm, however, commented on the injury, saying it shouldn’t be a “serious, long-term injury.”
Marat Khusnutdinov has slotted into the first-line center role, and has been surprisingly effective, working alongside Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak. Lindholm has been sidelined for just over a week now, having not played in the last three games.
Alex Steeves, 25, was signed by the Bruins in free agency this past summer. In nine games played with Providence this season, he’s posted 3-5-8, just shy of a point per game. His call up may be a mix of two potential injuries for Boston, as Johnny Beecher exited the game against the Ottawa Senators this past Thursday early due to an upper-body injury.
Steeves had a solid training camp, despite being assigned to Providence to start out in the American Hockey League this season. He’s a bottom-six player, but he can shoot the puck and has a strong defensive aspect of his game. He’ll likely slot into the fourth-line left wing role, where Beecher was playing.
