The Bruins are in Montreal tonight, getting set for the first of four matchups with their historic rival. Two matchups will be at the Bell Center, and two matchups will be at TD Garden this season. Their next meeting will take place at the Garden, set for December 23rd, 2025.

There have been some lineup shifts, as well as a goalie announcement for tonight’s 7:00 puck drop. Everything you’ll need for tonight will be covered here.

Per Jim McBride of the Boston Globe, the only shift to the lineup we’re going to see is Henri Jokiharju is a healthy scratch, and Jonathan Aspirot slots back into the right side of the third defensive pairing. Jokiharju has struggled to start the season, and his struggles were most evident in the Bruins’ most recent loss against Ottawa.

Aspirot, who only had six National Hockey League games after making his debut with the Bruins, has been serviceable on the backend. He doesn’t have any points through those six games in the Spoked B, but he is a plus-one, having only been on the ice for one goal against, which came in the Bruins 3-2 overtime win against Ottawa.

Mason Lohrei, who sat as a healthy scratch for five straight games, continues to suit up for Boston. Him and Aspirot only have one game together, and that was the Bruins’ 5-3 win in Toronto on November 8th. The pair was a plus-two in Toronto, and proved to be reliable on the backend.

The only other shift in the lineup tonight in between the pipes, as Jeremy Swayman is getting the nod against the Habs. Swayman is having a much better start to the season, currently sitting with a record of 7-4-0, a 3.08 goals against average, and a .900 save percentage. His numbers have been improving as the season has progressed, and he’s made a number of big time saves to keep Boston in games.

Against the Habs, Jeremy Swayman has a very solid record. Through 11 total games played, he’s posted a record of 9-1-1, a goals against average of 2.72, and a save percentage of .901. Arguably his best save of the 2024-25 season came against the Habs, last April.

As for some other highlights and milestones around this game, David Pastrnak just tied Rick Middleton for all-time goals, with goal #402 coming against Ottawa. Morgan Geekie remains hot to start the season, potting his 11th goal of the season against Ottawa and putting him a tied for second in the league in goals. Mark Kastelic, who recently joined Tanner Jeannot and Fraser Minten on the third line, has been solid to start the season. His fourth goal on the year, which came against Ottawa last game, extending his point streak to three games.
