Boston Bruins prospect Philip Svedeback earned a pair of conference accolades this week, being named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Week as well as the Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for November.

Svedeback earned Goaltender of the Week honors after saving 67 of 71 shots in the Friars’ road weekend series split against Colorado College. He made at least 30 saves in each game, including stopping 37 of 38 in their 2-1 win on Saturday. This was the fifth time Svedeback has been named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Week, now having done so at least once in each of his four seasons with Providence.

His Goaltender of the Month award comes off the back of starting eight of the Friars’ games in November, posting a 4-3-1 record with a .934 save percentage and 1.86 Goals Against Average. This was his second time winning the Goaltender of the Month Award, having done so in December of his Junior season, when he won all four starts.

Following the weekend, Svedeback is now sporting a 6-5-2 record, with a 2.31 Goals Against Average and a career-high .918 save percentage. His Saturday night start in Colorado Springs moved him into a tie with Dan Dennis for fourth all-time in games played by a Providence goaltender with 109, and his 52 career wins also rank fourth in program history.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft, Svedeback is set to exhaust his NCAA eligibility at the end of this season. It remains to be seen if Boston will sign Svedeback upon conclusion of the Friars’ season in the spring, or if he will elect to pursue another direction with his pro career.
