Fraser Minten is your 2025-26 NESN 7th Player of the Year Award winner. The honor, which goes to the player who exceeded the expectations of Bruins fans during the season, was given to the rookie before Boston’s 4-0 victory over New Jersey in its final regular-season game.
In his first full season in Boston, Minten put together an impressive campaign, suiting up for all 82 contests and posting 17-18-35. He tied for the team lead in overtime goals with two and was second on the Bruins in plus/minus with a +20.
The 21-year-old wasn’t just a standout in Black and Gold, but among rookies league-wide. His 17 goals and 35 points were both good enough for seventh among all NHL newbies.
The Vancouver native came over to Boston at last season’s NHL trade deadline when he, along with a first and fourth-round pick, was acquired in exchange for defenseman Brandon Carlo. He suited up for six games in his first season, scoring one goal.
“(Before the season) he was one of the guys we talked about maybe putting in the minors,” said head coach Marco Sturm following the win. “And look at it now, he went from that to playing with David Pastrnak.”
Sturm continued, “And that’s why he’s a special player. I’m happy he got the award today and he deserved the award. He’s a great kid…andhe’s not done yet.”
Minten joins fellow teammates David Pastrnak (two-time winner), Charlie McAvoy, Pavel Zacha, and Jeremy Swayman as winners of the award.
