The Professional Women’s Hockey League has announced that Boston Fleet Head Coach Kris Sparre has been named a finalist for Coach of the Year. He is alongside Kori Cheverie of the Montréal Victoire and Carla MacLeod of the Ottawa Charge.

The PWHL Awards Ceremony is being held on June 16th in Detroit, MI.

When Sparre was hired back in July 2025, he was met with skepticism from some. He had never coached women and he had never held a head coach role prior. But Sparre gave every single doubter a reason to regret it.

Sparre led the Fleet to their best season in franchise history, going 21-5-4. They ended the regular season with 62 points, which was tied for a league record-breaking high. It also beat the Fleet’s 2024-25 point total by 18 points.

Boston’s General Manager Danielle Marmer shared just how much praise Sparre got from players during their exit interviews. His hiring, though initially questioned, has been proven to be the right decision in Boston.
