The Boston Bruins have signed forward Lukas Reichel to a one-year contract extension worth $950,000, the team announced today. Reichel, who was acquired by the Bruins at the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick, appeared in 10 games down the stretch for the team, posting 1-2-3 and appearing in one playoff game.

Reichel, 23, appeared in 14 games for Vancouver before the trade to Boston on March 6th, recording one assist. He was dealt to Vancouver from the Chicago Blackhawks in October, where, in five games with Chicago, he posted 2-2-4.

The Nuremberg, Germany native was drafted 17th overall by Chicago in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. In his NHL career, which spans 198 games across five seasons, he has 23-39-62. His lone goal for the Bruins this season came in his team debut, a 6-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets.

The speedy forward appeared in four regular-season games for the Providence Bruins in the AHL, notching 1-4-5. He appeared in three postseason games for Providence and did not record a point. In his AHL career, he has 49-86-135 in 148 games between Providence, the Rockford IceHogs, and the Abbotsford Canucks.

Reichel has upside at the NHL level, as his speed was welcomed in the Bruins bottom six down the stretch. However, with the third line being crowded upon Reichel’s arrival, he was unable to make a true impact. With the one-year “prove it” extension, the 6-foot, 170-pound forward has an opportunity to make the opening night roster and if he does not, he is a quality depth option, either as a healthy scratch or in the AHL.
