The Providence Bruins had their season end with a historic upset by the Springfield Thunderbirds in the 2026 Atlantic Division Semifinals. Providence has had to watch the rest of the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs from home ever since the upset. Now, four teams remain in the playoffs.
The Eastern Conference Finals feature the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Toronto Marlies, while the Western Conference Finals feature the Colorado Eagles and the Chicago Wolves. Each Conference Finals series is tied at two, and Game 5 of each series is being played tomorrow night. It’s time to see which former Bruins have a chance to win the 2026 Calder Cup with their respective teams.
Former Bruins on the Penguins
One former Bruin who has a chance to win the Calder Cup with the Penguins is forward Joona Koppanen. In the 2017-18 season, Koppanen began his Providence tenure by playing ten games that season. Koppanen’s tenure in Providence ended after the 2022-23 season. Koppanen recorded 93 points in 245 games as a Bruin. Koppanen has played with the Penguins since the 2023-24 season.
This season, Koppanen recorded 25 points in 44 games with the Penguins, setting a new personal best with the team since he joined. Koppanen has recorded just three points in 13 playoff games this year for the Penguins.
Former Bruins on the Marlies
Like the Penguins, one former Bruin has a chance to win the Calder Cup with the Marlies, and that is forward Vinni Lettieri. Providence is where Lettieri had two different stints with the team. One in the 2022-23 season, the second in the 2024-25 season. As a Bruin, Lettieri recorded 99 points in 95 games combined from his two stints. Lettieri joined the Marlies this past offseason and recorded 42 points in 55 games. The 2026 playoffs have been where Lettieri has thrived in Toronto.
Lettieri’s 16 points lead all players in the 2026 playoffs, and his eight goals are tied for the most, along with Tristen Nielson of the Eagles. Lettieri led the Bruins with seven points in the 2025 playoffs, and he’s carried his momentum over to this year with the Marlies.
Former Bruins on the Eagles
No former Bruins currently play for the Wolves. However, four former Bruins are on the Eagles. Goaltender Kyle Keyser, forwards Jayson Megna and Luke Toporowski, and defenseman Jack Ahcan are the four former Bruins who can win the Calder Cup with the Eagles.
Keyser played six games to begin his Providence tenure in the 2019-20 season, and his tenure ended after playing five games in the 2023-24 season. Keyser won 31 games in 73 games as a Bruin. Keyser didn’t play in the American Hockey League at all last season, but got some playing time this season, being Trent Miner’s backup. Keyser played 15 games and won nine games this season with the Eagles. However, Keyser hasn’t played in the 2026 playoffs, while Miner has had an excellent playoff year.
Toporowski spent two seasons as a Bruin from 2022 to 2024 and recorded 46 points in 96 games during his tenure. This season is Toporowski’s first with the Eagles, and he recorded 15 points in 33 games. Toporowski has played in just one game for the Eagles in the 2026 playoffs and recorded no points.
Megna played just one season for the Bruins, but it was a good one. Megna recorded 56 points in 69 games during the 2023-24 season. Megna has been with the Eagles since the 2024-25 season, during which he has recorded back-to-back 51-point seasons. Despite playing in 69 games this season, Megna has recorded just two points in six playoff games this year.
Ahcan spent three seasons with the Bruins from 2020 to 2023, recording 69 points in 133 games. Ahcan has been playing with the Eagles since the 2023-24 season. This season, Ahcan recorded a career-high 11 goals, 39 assists, and 50 points in 61 games. However, Ahcan has recorded just three assists in eight playoff games this year for the Eagles.
