David Pastrnak has a chance to accomplish a very impressive feat once the 2026-2027 season gets underway for the Boston Bruins. The incredibly gifted winger will be in search of his fifth straight 100-point campaign.
Suiting up for 77 games last season, Pastrnak reached the elusive threshold by racking up a career-high 71 assists and potting 29 goals. While his usual elite goal-scoring touch was not as refined as years past, Pastrnak’s playmaking ability surged to a level Bruins fans had not seen out of the dynamic skater.
His previous career high in helpers was 63, which he reached during each of the past two seasons. Pastrnak really shined driving Boston’s power play. He lit the lamp ten times with Boston on the man advantage and dished out 23 assists for good measure.
Pastrnak joined an elite company in Bruins’ history this year. The highly skilled Czech winger became only the third Bruin skater ever to reach the century mark in points for four consecutive seasons. Pastrnak joined Boston legends Phil Esposito and Bobby Orr.
Orr had a stretch of five consecutive 100-point campaigns, during which the incredible defenseman reached that point threshold from 1970-1971 to 1974-1975. Esposito holds the record in Bruins’ history with six straight 100-point efforts, which occurred each year from 1970 through 1975.
It is incredibly impressive what Pastrnak has accomplished over the past four seasons. Night after night, game after game, the opposing team is locked in on limiting his chances and opportunities to create offensively.
He consistently takes shifts going up against teams’ top lines and number one defensive pairs. He has a target on his back every time he steps onto the ice. And over these four seasons, he has played with a myriad of linemates.
Pastrnak has shared ice time with players of varying skill sets. He skated with Brad Marchand, David Krejci, Pavel Zacha, Morgan Geekie, Elias Lindholm and others during this four-year stretch. And he continues to produce gaudy numbers all the same.
Once the puck officially drops for the 2027 season, Pastrnak is primed for another 100-point campaign. With Zacha still with the organization, the two Czech wingers should get plenty of time together to rekindle their chemistry. As last season, Zacha was slotted for the majority of the year with Casey Mittelstadt and Viktor Arvidsson.
Not to mention, the acquisition of JJ Peterka could prove fruitful for the Bruins’ top offensive weapon. As the offense-minded winger may help Pastrnak reignite his phenomenal scoring ability and get back to being the 40-plus-goal scorer Bruins fans have come to expect.
Moreover, the 84-game season will benefit the offensive output for players across the league. Giving Pastrnak two additional games will only help his point total.
Pastrnak has proven throughout his career to be one of the most consistently excellent offensive skaters in the NHL. His shot, passing, touch, and vision all operate on an elite level.
While hitting the 100-point plateau is a lofty goal and should not be taken for granted, Pastrnak has set the bar that high himself. There is no reason to doubt that he will not produce another exemplary campaign this season for the Bruins.
