The Boston Bruins training camp is officially underway, as they hit the ice on Thursday, September 17th, for the first day of on-ice training, and they just played their first of four preseason games, as they hosted the visiting Washington Capitals.
The Bruins were able to come out on top in a shootout, and, while both sides had some understandable rust, there were a lot of positives to come out of the first preseason tilt. A lot of young players — James Hagens, Matt Poitras, Fraser Minten, Frederic Brunet, and Marat Khusnutdinov — had strong showings in their first game of the preseason.
However, as is with every training camp, there are always roster cuts, as management looks like trim down the roster in time for opening night. The Bruins announce the following players will report to the Providence Bruins’ training camp:
Wyatt Bongiovanni, Luke Cavallin, Loke Johansson, Max Lundgren, Navrin Mutter, Tobie Paquette-Bisson, Kalle Vaisanen and Max Wanner.
The Bruins are off today, and they’re back on the ice tomorrow as they get set to host the Philadelphia Flyers in their second of four preseason games they’re going to play this offseason. More cuts are expected to come as training camp progresses.
