The long wait is almost over for Boston Bruins fans. The Black and Gold will be back on the ice later this month to officially begin the 2026-2027 season. The Bruins’ first contest of the campaign is slated for Tuesday, September 29th, when Boston will host the New York Rangers at TD Garden.
Each month has exciting matchups that rabid Bruins fans will certainly enjoy. Contests throughout the season will qualify for a clearing of schedules.
October/November
The most interesting matchups during Boston’s first full month of action will take place on the road. The Bruins will do battle with the talented Minnesota Wild and defending Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes. In the middle of the month, the Bruins will head out west for their annual California road trip. After quite a few years of rebuilding, the Anaheim Ducks are back to being an exciting team to watch.
While November is chock-full of key divisional contests and Eastern Conference opponents, every Bruins fan comes into each season excited about which team will be in town for the traditional Black Friday affair. This year, Boston will be involved in an original six battle, as the Toronto Maple Leafs will take on the Bruins for a matinee matchup Friday, November 27th.
December/January
The last month of 2026 holds some exciting contests against perennial playoff teams and Atlantic rivals. But Bruins fans worldwide will have their eyes fixed on the Tuesday, December 1st matchup against the Colorado Avalanche. That night, Patrice Bergeron’s number 37 will be raised to the TD Garden rafters. That evening is the most anticipated game of this upcoming Bruins season.
Once the Christmas break is over, Boston is back in action for a plethora of Eastern Conference battles. The Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens, and Tampa Bay Lightning are all on the docket. Not to mention a tough road trip against three teams that made the playoffs last year: Colorado, the Vegas Golden Knights, and Utah Mammoth.
February/March
After taking nine days off for the NHL All-Star Break, the Bruins will be back for nine games in the shortened month. The most notable stretch in February is the Western Canada road trip, as Boston will battle the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks before ending their business trip against the Seattle Kraken.
As the Bruins prepare for a hopeful playoff push, they will face exclusively Eastern Conference opponents in March, except for a single home game against the Kraken. These contests against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, and Washington Capitals could prove vital for playoff seeding.
April
As is normally the case, the Black and Gold finish out the last month of the season with a heavy dose of road games. Five of the six contests will take place away from TD Garden. Two of the battles will be in Buffalo, and Boston will conclude the 2027 season with a back-to-back in the Sunshine State, first against the Florida Panthers, then the Lightning.
This is set up to be an exciting season of Bruins Hockey. The newly updated 84-game season will ensure stiff competition throughout the campaign. There are many stretches and games this season Boston sports fans should get ready for.
