Another Bruin is headed to Switzerland. Ryan Walsh became the third Boston draft pick to be named to the 2026 US Collegiate Selects roster for the Spengler Cup on Thursday, joining Dean Letourneau and Elliott Groenewold.
Walsh is the second member, alongside Minnesota-Duluth’s Zam Plante, to return to the Selects following their debut campaign last December. Walsh played in three of their four games en route to a runner-up finish, scoring in the final against hosts HC Davos on New Year’s Eve.
Cornell’s captain will also be accompanied by Big Red teammate Xavier Veilleux, who was announced alongside Letourneau in October. Their head coach, Casey Jones, is serving as an assistant to UNH’s Mike Souza on this year’s coaching staff. Walsh has recorded three points in two games so far in his senior year, all coming in their season opener against Sacred Heart on October 30th, a 5-2 win where Walsh scored or assisted on each of their first three goals.
Following the latest announcement, the Selects have filled 16 of their 25 roster spots. Their tournament begins at the Eisstadion Davos on Saturday, December 26th, against Frölunda HC of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).
