The red-hot Boston Bruins (10-7-0) are back on home ice for a Tuesday night matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs (8-7-1). On Saturday night, these two teams squared off north of the border, and the Bruins came out with their sixth straight victory, winning 5-3. In their last six regular-season meetings in Boston, the Bruins have gone 5-0-1 against Toronto, not having lost in regulation since March 29, 2022.
The Boston Bruins held practice on Monday at Warrior Ice Arena and followed with a gameday optional skate on Tuesday. Charlie McAvoy returned to the ice on Monday. He missed Saturday’s game due to a family matter; he returned on the top pair with Nikita Zadorov. He will return to the lineup tonight, as reported by Joe Haggerty of the Boston Sports Journal. Mason Lohrei will slot into the lineup again. He sat out for five consecutive games and posted two assists in his first game back. With McAvoy and Lohrei back in the lineup, Jonathan Aspirot is going to be the seventh defenseman and will not dress tonight.

The forward lines look the same as Saturday’s game, meaning former-Leaf Alex Steeves will run on the second line with Pavel Zacha and Viktor Arvidsson. Casey Mittelstadt (lower-body) was not practicing; he is week-to-week with a lower-body injury. Marat Khusnutdinov, who was named the Bruins’ player of the week, will center a line with Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak. Geekie’s 11 goals have him tied for second in the NHL, and David Pastrnak sits at 399 career goals.
The Maple Leafs, who lost both of their games over the weekend, are coming into this game looking for a bounce-back performance. This is the Leafs’ 17th game of the season, but only their fifth on the road; they have gone 1-3-0 away from home. The Bruins have won their last five home games and boast a 7-3-0 home record. Toronto has consistently generated offense all season, scoring an average of 3.69 goals per game and ranking fifth in the league. The Maple Leafs found success on their power play on Saturday, going two-for-four and helping to improve their season total to 17.1%.
The goaltending matchup will look the same as it did in Toronto on Saturday. Marco Sturm said that Jeremy Swayman will be in goal for the Bruins, per Joe Haggerty of the Boston Sports Journal. Swayman, in his tenth start of the season, made 30 saves on 33 shots in the win on Saturday. Over the Bruins’ six-game win streak, Swayman has gone 3-0-0 with a .925 save percentage and a 2.28 goals against average. David Alter of The Hockey News reported that Anthony Stolarz was in the starter’s crease for the Maple Leafs this morning. Stolarz, who was pulled after allowing four goals in 25 minutes on Saturday, will look to make up for that performance at the TD Garden tonight.
Although Bruins fans got their first taste of Brandon Carlo in a Maple Leafs jersey on Saturday, this will be his first time back to the TD Garden as a visitor. The Bruins and Maple Leafs made a trade in March that sent Carlo to Toronto, and in exchange, the Bruins received a first-round pick, a fourth-round pick, and Fraser Minten.
The Bruins will look to make it seven straight wins on the season tonight at the TD Garden. The Bruins and Maple Leafs game will get underway with puck drop around 7:15 PM tonight. The game will be carried nationally on TNT and TruTV, as well as streamed on HBO Max. Locally, 98.5 will have the radio call.
