The Boston Bruins and the rest of the NHL will be back in action this coming week, with the 2026 Winter Olympics closing Sunday, February 22nd. The Bruins will return to TD Garden ice on Thursday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
With the conclusion of this three-week league-wide hiatus, Boston will reunite, hoping to remain in the playoff picture the rest of the way. The Black and Gold will return to action, currently slated as the second wild card in the Eastern Conference.
Bruins Head Coach Marco Sturm has done well in his first year behind Boston’s bench, getting the Bruins to a record of 32-20-5. Boston managed 33 victories all of last season. Here is how the Bruins’ schedule breaks down over their final 25 regular season games.
The Bruins do have slightly more road contests on the docket the rest of the way, as they will host 11 more games at the Garden. And with a very condensed schedule to accommodate the three-week February break for the Olympics, Boston’s workload will be busy the rest of the way. However, the pace will be more manageable than earlier in the season.
March holds a lot of hockey for the Bruins, as Boston will suit up for 15 games in 31 days. The good news for the Bruins is that there are only two back-to-backs scheduled for them the rest of the campaign, both occurring next month.
While the rest of February and March contain an even balance of road and away games, Boston will wrap up their schedule with five of seven road tilts in April. The Bruins will conclude the 2025-2026 regular season against the New Jersey Devils at TD Garden on April 14th.
With the standings as tight as they are, every game remaining contains significance for Boston. But some matchups will carry even more direct weight than others.
One interesting aspect of the Bruins’ schedule is that they have three games slated against the Blue Jackets. Boston currently holds the second wild card slot over Columbus by four points. The Blue Jackets have one game in hand.
Those three matchups will almost certainly play a massive role in shaping the Eastern Conference playoff picture. The Bruins could seriously separate themselves in the standings or give the Blue Jackets confidence that they can surpass them.
One other aspect to pay attention to as the season really ramps up is that Boston is still very much in striking distance of a top-three seed in the Atlantic Division. The Bruins are three points behind the Canadiens and Red Wings, and Boston holds a game in hand over Detroit. The Black and Gold have one more remaining matchup against both squads.
As the Bruins get ready for this stretch run, they will need to quickly regain focus and mesh back as a unit. The standings are too tight, and the schedule is too compact to start off slowly. Boston must come out of the break firing on all cylinders and keep their standard of play high if they want to return to postseason hockey.
The Bruins’ next game will be Thursday night at TD Garden against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
