Boston Bruins defenseman Henri Jokiharju and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo have won gold for Finland at the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships in Switzerland. Finland defeated Switzerland 1-0 in overtime in the Gold Medal game off a goal from Konsta Helenius. Jokiharju, Korpisalo and Finland went 9-1-0 in the tournament, outscoring opponents 40-14.

Jokiharju appeared in all 10 games for Finland, posting 2-6-8 and a plus 10. His eight points were tied for third on the team behind Aleksander Barkov and Jesse Puljujarvi. Jokiharju scored the eventual game winner in Finland’s 7-1 victory over Latvia in pool play and scored his other goal in a 4-0 victory over Great Britain. With his eight points in 10 games, Jokiharju was named to the tournament’s “All-Star Team.”

Korpisalo played in two of Finland’s ten games, starting against Great Britain and Hungary. He went 2-0-0 with a .947 save percentage, a 0.50 goals against average and a shutout against Great Britain. Korpisalo was dressed for all ten games, backing up Justus Annunen.

For Jokiharju, Korpisalo and Finland, this gold marks their third gold medal in seven years, winning in 2019 and 2022. Jokiharju was a member of the 2019 team, while this is Korpisalo’s first gold. In the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Jokiharju and Korpisalo were both members of Team Finland, who took home bronze with a 6-1 victory over Slovakia.
