Two days after acquiring the Czech forward from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Fabian Lysell, the Boston Bruins have inked Ivan Ivan to a one-year, two-way contract extension with a cap hit of $850,000 at the National Hockey League level. Earlier in the day, the team announced that Ivan was one of four players who would receive a qualifying offer.

Ivan, a native of Ostrava, Czechia, appeared in 66 American Hockey League games last season with the Colorado Eagles, scoring 11 goals and adding 15 assists for a total of 26 points. He also suited up in nine NHL games with the Avalanche, and had an assist.

Ivan will most likely begin his Bruins career in the American Hockey League with Providence, but could make a push for a spot in Boston. After all, he has played in nearly 50 NHL games over the last two seasons. This signing will likely be the first of many this season, as both Boston and Providence have significant holes to fill in their respective lineups.
