The Bruins have reportedly made their first free agency signing, bringing in veteran center Brendan Gaunce in what looks to be an organizational depth signing. There are no specifics as to the term or average annual value, but per Gaunce’s brother on TSN, the 32-year-old is heading to Boston.
Gaunce played the 2025-26 season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he appeared in 25 games and recorded 2-4-6 and a plus/minus of -1. He appeared in 44 games in the American Hockey League Cleveland Monsters, where he recorded 16-20-36 and a plus/minus of -9.
Gaunce was previously with the Boston Bruins, as he was with them for one season, the 2019-20 season and saw one game in Boston and 52 in Providence. He didn’t record a point in his game in Boston, but recorded 18-19-37 with the Providence Bruins. More details about the term and value of his contract are to come.
