After an outstanding season with the Maine Mariners, forward Max Andreev has earned the next opportunity in his professional career, signing with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. For the Mariners, Andreev’s departure is both a testament to the organization’s ability to develop talent and a significant loss to a roster that relied heavily on his offensive production, leadership, and consistency.
Throughout his time in Portland, Andreev established himself as one of the club’s most dependable forwards, combining skill, vision, and relentless effort to become a key piece of one of the most successful teams in franchise history. Joining the Mariners after spending time with the Kansas City Mavericks and following a standout collegiate career at Cornell University, Andreev quickly fit into head coach Rick Kowalsky’s system. His hockey IQ, playmaking ability, and willingness to compete in every situation made him a player the coaching staff could trust in all areas of the game.
During the 2025-26 season, Andreev elevated his game even further. Whether creating offense at even strength, quarterbacking the power play, or providing timely scoring in crucial moments, he consistently delivered when the Mariners needed him most. His ability to control the pace of play and create opportunities for his teammates made him one of the driving forces behind Maine’s historic campaign.
One of the defining aspects of Andreev’s season was his chemistry with Jacob Hudson. The two formed one of the Mariners’ most dangerous offensive duos, regularly creating scoring chances and providing a spark whenever they stepped onto the ice. Whether on the power play or at five-on-five, the pair developed a connection that became one of the team’s biggest strengths and helped fuel Maine’s deep run into the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Beyond his production, Andreev earned the respect of teammates through his professionalism and team-first mentality. In a recent interview, he spoke highly of captain Wyllum Deveaux, praising the leadership that helped establish the culture inside the Mariners locker room. That same culture played a significant role in the team’s success and is something Andreev both embraced and helped strengthen during his time in Portland.
Although Andreev spent just one season in a Mariners sweater, he quickly established himself as one of the team’s most dynamic offensive players. In 70 regular-season games, he recorded 19 goals and 43 assists for 62 points, tying for the team lead in scoring while becoming one of the ECHL’s premier playmakers.
His production only increased when the games mattered most. During the Kelly Cup Playoffs, Andreev totaled six goals and eight assists for 14 points in 14 games, helping power the Mariners to the deepest postseason run in franchise history. Whether it was a clutch goal, a highlight-reel pass, or a key play on the power play, Andreev consistently rose to the occasion and proved to be one of Maine’s most valuable players.
As Max Andreev begins the next chapter of his career with the Providence Bruins, he leaves behind far more than goals and assists. He leaves as one of the cornerstone players of a memorable era of Maine Mariners hockey, and one whose impact on the organization will be felt long after he has moved on.
