Earlier today, April 10, Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced that the team has signed Minnesota-Duluth forward Karson Kuhlman to a two-year NHL contract worth an average annual value of $750,000. The deal will kick in next season and Kuhlman will spend the rest of the 2017-2018 season on an ATO with the Providence Bruins.

Kuhlman first got a letter on his sweater impressively as a sophomore when he was named as an alternate captain. What’s notable about Kuhlman most recently was his performance in the NCAA National Championship game against the University of Notre Dame when he tallied a goal and an assist in the 2-1 win for the Bulldogs. This performance landed him the title of 2018 National Championship MVP.

This past season, Karson, 22, had 13 goals, seven assists, and 20 points in 44 regular season games as captain of the Bulldogs. Over his 166 game college career, Kuhlman scored 39 goals and added 41 assists, good for 80 points. He can play both center and wing, which never hurts. I wrote about Karson a bit when he was invited to attend Bruins development camp this past summer, that can be found here.

Even in preparation for a playoff run, Don Sweeney adds another solid depth piece to an already stacked Bruins prospect pool.
