The calendar has officially hit December in what has been a rollercoaster of a year. 2020 hasn’t been necessarily kind to anyone, and I think I can speak for everyone that we are all looking forward to turning the page to 2021. With that being said, it is the holiday season, and the Bruins may have a few things on their list that they are asking Santa Claus to bring to Beantown.
NHL Hockey
It is officially December, and the National Hockey League still does not plan to institute its 2020-2021 season. As more and more days go by, the less likely a January 1st season start date, which they were aiming for, is. Keep in mind the NHL has to go through a preseason, which is expected to be shortened, but with training camp, that will still take some time. With all of that being said, NHL hockey should be on the top of their Christmas list. Many Bruins fans want to head to the living room and flip through their TV to find some Boston Bruins’ hockey. Hopefully, we can do that soon.
Health
Heading into a new NHL season, whenever that may be, there are always bumps in the road that every team goes through. One of those is injuries. That is the reason the Boston Bruins should wish for some great health. Hopefully, the Bruins’ players and staff are using this extra time to rest and train appropriately for when they eventually get that call to suit up. This extra time is extremely beneficial for Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak, who underwent offseason surgeries and were expected to miss a little regular-season time. However, with the season not yet scheduled, who knows if they will. Let’s wish for some healthy Boston Bruins in 2021.
Consistency
I know I am not the only one that has noticed in past years that the Bruins have had some consistency issues. There are some games where they looked like the President’s Trophy Winners that they were, and then there were games where they couldn’t seem to get out of their own way. Let’s be real here; that is going to happen. As a college hockey player, you won’t ever be the same team for every game. You are going to have some off nights. However, I don’t think it is out of reason to ask for some more consistency among a team that has shown they can do it.
Secondary Scoring
This wish should honestly be way higher on the Bruins wish list. If the Bruins are going to be a Stanley Cup Champion, which we all hope they will be, they need their second and third line to contribute much more than they have in years past. The first line of Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak, and Patrice Bergeron can’t be the only ones. If an opposing team shuts down that line, the Bruins need their middle six to help. Jake DeBrusk has shown flashes of goal-scoring potential, and we all know what David Krejci brings. With the addition of Craig Smith into the mix and the return of Charlie Coyle, let’s hope this wish can turn into a reality.
