The Shining Star Showcase is a weekly series taking time to review the Providence Bruins based on their performance after each weekend set of games. The team has had five contests and is leading the division with an impressive 4 – 1 record. The team won both weekend games against both of their divisional opponents. The Providence Bruins now sit atop their division with Hartford at 2-2 and Bridgeport at 1-4. We continue to see a rotation of two goaltenders between the pipes. We can look at the tandem of games and here are the players that made the Shining Star Showcase.

Shining Star: Jeremy Swayman

Jeremy Swayman took his game to another level this weekend remaining undefeated as a Providence Bruins goaltender, getting the start against Hartford in their 5-2 win on Sunday. Swayman stopped 34 of 36 shots sent his way by the Wolfpack and gave his team enough support to outlast Hartford to get the win. Jeremy is one of only five goaltenders to have played at least three games and remain undefeated. He is sporting an impressive 2.00 goals-against-average. The netminder has been inspiring his teammates to elevate their games as well. Swayman is also the only Bruin to appear in each weekly Shining Star Showcase. We hope this streak continues as well.

Shining Star: Dan Vladar

Dan Vladar makes his debut to the Shining Star Showcase with an impressive win Friday against Bridgeport. Both goaltenders that day earned their stripes, but Vladar was one better as the team beat the Sound Tigers by a score of 1-0. In his two starts, Vladar has a 1-1 record with a resounding .957 goals-against-average. The netminder stopped all 24 shots launched by Bridgeport, and not all of the saves were easy ones. Vladar, however, makes it look easy. On a weekend where both goaltenders got a start, and both come out with wins, it is great to see them both make the Showcase.

Shining Star: Zach Senyshyn

Zach Senyshyn makes his debut to the Shining Star Showcase in grand fashion. Senyshyn is the only Bruin to score in both wins this weekend and bookended the stat sheets with the first goal on Friday and the last goal on Sunday. Not a bad way to start and end a weekend tilt of games. The right-winger notched the game-winner over Bridgeport on Friday as Vladar blockaded a shutout for the Bruins. He also lit the lamp with an empty-net goal on Sunday against Hartford. A great effort in both games.

Shining Star: Cameron Hughes

Cameron Hughes makes his debut to the Shining Star Showcase with quality work and hustled, notching the eventual game-winning goal Sunday against Hartford. Hughes ended the weekend with a plus-minus of +2 being on the ice for both game-winning goals this weekend. The left-winger has been plugging up the neutral zone attacks of the Wolfpack and Sound Tigers. Hughes continues to make his presence known and felt on the ice.

Shining Star: Brady Lyle

Welcome to the Providence Bruins, and welcome to the Shining Star Showcase Brady Lyle. The newest member of the team has made a significant impact in games four and five for the Bruins. On Friday, Lyle was on the ice as part of the only goal scored in their win over Bridgeport. The standout was also earning a goal and an assist for the Bruins in their win over Hartford. Lyle is certainly paying attention to the veteran leaders on the team and studying his playbook and opponents well. We hope this is a pattern the other newcomers on the team can follow and perform as the season progresses.

Who Will Shine Next?

As we await the results of the upcoming game on February 19th, 2021, against Bridgeport, who do you think will shine? Will we have any repeat stars, or will there be a new trio that comes to the forefront? Come back to find out.
