Boston ended their short four-game road trip on a positive note as they rallied back to defeat the Montreal Canadien, winning 3-2 in overtime. The team has won seven out of their last 10 games. Brad Marchand scored twice including the game-winning goal; Jeremy Swayman made 26 saves while Montreal’s Jake Allen made 43 saves in tonight’s matchup.
Scoring Summary
In the first opening minute, the Bruins went on the power play as Brad Marchand drew the first penalty of the game when Alexander Romanov was called for cross-checking. Boston went scoreless during the man advantage.
Both teams traded penalties throughout the period however the Bruins opened up the scoring when Marchand wristed the puck in the net stemming from a touch pass by Erik Haula. The left-winger would tally his 345th NHL career goal, surpassing Cam Neeley for sixth amongst the B’s all-time goal scorers.
The period ends with the Bruins up by one goal.

Continued pressure on both ends of the ice leads to the eventual tying goal by Montreal’s David Savard who backhanded the puck past Jeremy Swayman. A quiet period for penalties but lots of scoring chances that had both goalies performing acrobatic feats in the net.
The second would close out with the Bruins on the power play as Alexander Romanov went to the box for a tripping penalty against Charlie McAvoy. No goal for either team as the period closed out at one goal apiece.

SHOTS ON GOAL: BOS-14, MTL-15
Boston’s power play continued into the third period however it would be the Canadiens that took a 2-1 lead when Joel Armia scored a short-handed goal.
The B’s had a chance to tie things up when they went on the power play as Cole Caulfield was nabbed for hooking against Tomas Nosek. There were lots of close scoring chances however Boston was unable to capitalize on the man-advantage.
In the last few minutes of the third, Connor Clifton scored the tying goal after a quick pass from Craig Smith. With time winding down in the period, both Charlie McAvoy and Jake Evans were taken to the penalty box for roughing. The game would go into overtime.

SHOTS ON GOAL: BOS-17, MTL-5
Overtime was short-lived as Brad Marchand dangled the puck past Jake Allen nabbing the win for the Bruins, making the final score 3-2.
The Bruins are now tied for third with 83 points in the Atlantic Division while the Montreal Canadiens are tied with the Seattle Kraken and Arizona Coyotes with 44 points. Boston is 39-19-5 while Montreal is 17-36-10.
