Per the National Hockey League Boston Bruins, forwards Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno have been traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defensemen Alec Regula and Ian Mitchell.
Taylor Hall was drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2010. He joined the Bruins organization in 2020 from the Buffalo Sabres. This past season he missed 21 games after suffering a lower-body injury on a west-coast road trip in February. He scored 16 goals for the B’s last season, falling short of expectations. With his departure, the Bruins shed $6M in AAV with two seasons remaining on his contract.
Nick Foligno was drafted in 2006, 28th overall, by the Ottawa Senators. He joined the Bruins in 2021 after a brief stint in Toronto and a significant career in Columbus. Foligno was placed on LTIR at the end of February and did not return until the start of the playoffs. In both seasons, Foligno played fewer than 65 games due to a variety of injuries. He was courted by the Bruins to serve in a leadership capacity, which paid off in his second year with the team. He was also at the end of his contract this summer.
This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
