Today, the American Hockey League announced that Providence Bruins goaltender Michael DiPietro has won the Aldege “Baz” Bastien Memorial Award as the AHL’s Most Outstanding Goalie for the 2024-25 season.
The Aldege “Baz” Bastien Award is among the highest honors an AHL goalie can receive. It is voted on by coaches, players, and media members representing each of the league’s 32 teams.
This season, the former Team Canada World Junior Championship starter recorded an impressive 26-8-5 in 40 appearances, achieving a .927 Save Percentage and a 2.05 Goals Against Average, all career-best numbers.
DiPietro is receiving numerous accolades this season. He was named to the Atlantic Division All-Star Team and received the CCM Top Goaltender Award during the skills competition. Additionally, the Windsor, Ontario native has been voted a First Team AHL All-Star.
Michael DiPietro must maintain his top performance if the P-Bruins are to have a chance at winning the Calder Cup. They begin this journey tonight as Providence faces the Springfield Thunderbirds. Michael will be the game-one starter for the Baby Bs against the T-Birds’ starter Colten Ellis.
Catch the P-Bruins this week as they face the Springfield Thunderbirds in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs. This three-game series promises to be exciting, as both teams are evenly matched.
