Per Elite Prospects Cam Robinson, the Boston Bruins are reportedly going to sign unrestricted free agent forward Matej Blumel. The 25-year-old Czech native has played the last three seasons playing for the Dallas Stars organization primarily with the team’s AHL affiliate the Texas Stars.

Last year with Texas the 6′-0″ 205-pound versitile forward posted 39-33-72 numbers in 67 games ands led the AHL in goals scored and second in total points. Blumel is a goup-six free agent and made $775k at the NHL level when he appeared at the highest league in the world 13 times. This could be a move to see what a player like Blumel has to offer in this fall’s NHL training camp, or if it doesn’t work out he can be waived before the 2025-26 season starts and report to the Providence Bruins to bloster their offensive production.

In three seasons with the Texas Stars, Blumel has contributed 89-89-178 totals and 2-0-0 at the NHL level. Matej was an AHL first team All-Star last season and won the Willie Marshall Award for being the leagues top goal scorer.
