Jeremy Swayman has been one of the main reasons for the Boston Bruins’ success this season. The Black and Gold’s netminder put together arguably the best season of his career, and now he’s being recognized for it.
The NHL announced that Swayman is one of this season’s Vezina Trophy finalists via their official X account. The other nominees are Tampa Bay’s Andrei Vasilevskiy and New York’s Ilya Sorokin.
The Alaska native started 54 games this season, going 31-18-4 with a .908 save percentage, 2.71 goals against average, and two shutouts. The 31 victories were a new career-high, and the 54 starts were his second-most in a single season (56 in 2024-25).
Swayman finished second in the NHL with 28.8 goals saved above expected behind only Logan Thompson of the Washington Capitals. Among goaltenders with at least 20 games played, he ranked third overall with .534 goals saved above expected per 60, and second overall with 4.80 wins above replacement.
This won’t be the first NHL honor Boston’s goaltender has earned in his career. He was named to the all-rookie team in 2021-22, received the Jennings Trophy in 2022-23 for the league’s best goaltending tandem alongside Linus Ullmark, was the fan vote selection for the NHL All-Star Game in 2024, and helped Team USA to a Gold Medal at the 2026 Olympics.
This is Swayman’s first Vezina nomination and the first for a Bruins goaltender since Linus Ullmark in 2022-23. If Swayman wins, he would join recent recipients Tim Thomas, Tuukka Rask, Ullmark, and Pete Peters as Boston Vezina winners.
