The Professional Women’s Hockey League announced that Boston Fleet goaltender Aerin Frankel has been named a finalist for the Billie Jean King Most Valuable Player Award. She is alongside Ann-Renée Desbiens of the Montréal Victoire and Kelly Pannek of the Minnesota Frost.
This is the second award she has been named a finalist for this season, also getting selected for Goaltender of the Year. Frankel and Desbiens are the first goaltenders to be finalists for MVP.
This season Frankel’s 19 wins helped the Fleet improve 18 points from the season prior. She posted 8 shutouts which set a single-season league high.
Of her wins, 10 were only decided by two goals or fewer. In those moments, she truly embodied the most valuable player for Boston.
The PWHL Awards Ceremony is being held on June 16th in Detroit, MI.
