After the team announced the retention of forward Lukas Reichel today, they announced a departure as well, this time in the front office. Assistant General Manager Jamie Langenbrunner is departing the Bruins’ organization after 11 seasons with the team.

The team released a statement this afternoon saying: “The Boston Bruins have agreed to allow Jamie Langenbrunner to pursue other opportunities in the National Hockey League. The organization wishes Jamie and his family all the best moving forward.“.

Langenbrunner first joined the Bruins as a Development coach in 2015, a title he held for four seasons. In 2019, he was promoted to Director of Player Development, a role in which the Cloquet, Minnesota, native served the organization in until 2022, where Langenbrunner was promoted again to the title of Assistant General Manager. As a player, Langenbrunner played in over 1,100 games in the National Hockey League, with the Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils, and St. Louis Blues. He won Two Stanley Cups, in 1999 and 2003. He also played for Team USA at the Nagano and Vancouver Olympic Games, where he served as Team Captain, leading the Americans to a Silver Medal.

As for what may be next for Langenbrunner, there were rumors that he could have been heading to Vancouver to join the Canucks organization, however, with the team announcing the promotions of Ryan Johnson to General Manager, as well as promoting Daniel and Henrik Sedin to Co-Presidents, that may no longer be the case. He has been previously linked to the Nashville Predators General Manager search. As for the Bruins? We will have to wait and see.
