Another member of the Boston Bruins 2021 NHL Draft has left the organization. As reported by Mark Divver on Tuesday morning, Oskar Jellvik, the Bruins’ fifth-round choice from that draft, has signed a two-year contract with Rogle BK in his native Sweden. He had exhausted his collegiate eligibility in March following Boston College’s season-ending overtime loss to UConn in the Hockey East Tournament semifinal.

Jellvik was a four-year player on Chestnut Hill, recording 23-52-75 in 107 games. After a strong 13-29-42 sophomore season, in which the Eagles made their first Frozen Four since 2016, Jellvik struggled to remain in the lineup, missing significant time with injuries in his junior and senior seasons. When healthy, the Swede was one of BC’s best playmaking forwards and thrived in his career when grouped with Cutter Gauthier and Andre Gasseau.

Jellvik’s 5-foot-10, 180lb frame and hockey sense allow him to create opportunities in tight spaces and make plays in transition. The Eagles sorely missed those qualities in their lineup down the stretch of his junior year after he suffered a season-ending injury, with the offense sputtering in his absence.

Jellvik has joined a growing list of departures from a draft class that has aged poorly for the Bruins. As of writing, only two of Boston’s seven draft picks from 2021, Fabian Lysell and Ty Gallagher, are still with the organization. His BC teammate, Andre Gasseau, has been reported to pursue free agency, and goaltender Philip Svedeback also appears unlikely to sign, after the Bruins signed Max Lundgren out of Merrimack.
