For those who may be disconnected from the National Hockey League and the National Basketball Association, the Boston Bruins and the Boston Celtics have been eliminated from the playoffs. Their early exits have opened up availability at TD Garden in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. While the first-round schedule for the Boston Fleet against the Ottawa Charge has already been released with no games set for the Garden, there remains speculation that the venue could host PWHL Finals games if Boston advances.

The series between Boston and Ottawa is tied 1-1, with the Finals expected to begin in mid-May. One potential challenge to hosting games at TD Garden would be the adjustment to the venue and logistics. The Fleet have played most of their home games this season at Tsongas Center, and a mid-playoff shift to a larger arena could create tough adjustments for the players.

Despite the excitement around the possibility of playoff games at TD Garden, some fans on social media have pushed back on the idea for a different reason. Jokes and comments about the arena being “cursed” following the Bruins and Celtics eliminations have circulated online.

Nonetheless, TD Garden hosting finals games is a chance for the Fleet to create a new chapter for women’s hockey in Boston.
