The Boston Fleet has officially captured the city’s attention through their first three seasons, proving Boston is more than ready to support a second professional hockey team. The atmosphere at both the Tsongas Center and Agganis Arena has already been electric, with attendance regularly hovering around 80-85% capacity. Those are impressive numbers for a young franchise, but there is still room to grow. The Fleet played in front of a sold-out house at TD Garden, and there is talk of them potentially playing there more frequently.
To keep the momentum rolling and turn every home game into a must-see event, here are five promotional nights the Boston Fleet should consider introducing next season.
- “Paws & Pucks” Pet Toy Toss

The traditional Teddy Bear Toss has long been a staple of minor league hockey, but the Fleet have an opportunity to put a unique local spin on the concept while reaching non-traditional hockey fans in the process.
Instead of teddy bears, the team could partner with organizations such as the Lowell Humane Society or the MSPCA and encourage fans to bring brand-new pet toys to donate. After the Fleet scored their first goal, fans would toss the squeaky toys onto the ice in one of the more chaotic and entertaining visuals the league could offer.
To boost participation, fans who donate a toy at the gate could receive a concession voucher for a free soda. It would be a win-win situation where both fans and pups get to benefit. Who says no to that?
- “If We Score Five, You Get A Snack” Ongoing Promotion

I remember when the Manchester Monarchs used to have an ongoing promotion that if they scored five goals, participating McDonald’s restaurants would give you free French fries. My personal favorite part of this promotion was that the McDonald’s employees never actually checked, so you could get free fries almost every day if you were so inclined.
While we obviously want the Fleet lighting the lamp every night, a promotion of this type keeps the crowd fully invested right up to the final horn.
If they passed the threshold of five goals, they could hand out free snack vouchers to fans as they leave the game, which they could then use at the concession stand during the next game they attend. Not only does this increase excitement for that game, but it also gives them yet another reason to come back in the future.
- “Guaranteed Win” Night
This one is risky, but that is exactly what would make it work.
For a midweek matchup, the Fleet could guarantee a victory. If Boston loses, every fan in attendance receives a voucher for a free ticket to a future regular-season game.
Promotions like this naturally generate buzz, especially on sports radio and social media, because the stakes instantly feel higher. Suddenly, every shift matters to the crowd. A random Wednesday game in January turns into an event with playoff-level energy.
Even if the team loses, the organization still benefits by bringing fans back into the building on a night where attendance is traditionally lower.
- 90s Neon Night: The Fleet Fanny Pack Giveaway
Nostalgia nights always work, and 1990s-themed promotions are everywhere right now.
The Fleet should lean fully into it with a “90s Neon Night” featuring retro music, vintage graphics, and a giveaway item fans would actually use: a bright neon green Fleet fanny pack featuring the anchor logo.
It is weird enough to stand out, practical enough for people to wear around the city, and exactly the type of giveaway that ends up all over social media during the game.
- “Hungry for Hockey” Family Pack
Older Bruins fans probably remember the famous “Hungry for Hockey” promotion from 2008, when ticket packages included unlimited arena food. The Fleet should bring back a version of that concept for Sunday afternoon games.
A dedicated family package that includes tickets, unlimited hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn, and soda would immediately become one of the most appealing values in Boston sports.
For families, food costs are often the biggest barrier to attending live events consistently. A promotion like this eliminates the worry of trying to balance the budget while keeping the kids happy.
More importantly, this (along with the other promotions) helps to create the next generation of Fleet fans by making live hockey that much more fun and engaging.
