The Boston Bruins used their 23rd overall pick in the first round of the 2026 National Hockey League Draft to acquire Utah Mammoth forward JJ Peterka in a trade. The Bruins began day two of the draft by selecting goaltender Yuri Ivanov with the 56th overall pick as the team’s first draft pick in 2026. Now, another draft pick has been made by general manager Don Sweeney. With the 88th overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, the Bruins selected forward Nils Bartholdsson.

Bartholdsson got excellent playing experience during the 2025-26 season. Bartholdsson played on five different teams, including Team Sweden’s WJC-18 and International Jr. teams. Bartholdsson scored four goals for Team Sweden during the 2026 IIHF U18 World Championships, where he and his team took home a gold medal. While playing for the Rogle BK U20 team this season, Bartholdsson recorded 42 points in 32 games, including 23 goals, and 17 points in nine playoff games.

At 18 years old, Bartholdsson can score goals with his sniping ability, which the Bruins can use. At 5’11”, 179 lbs, Bartholdsson skates well, has good speed, and has good hockey sense. Playing for five different teams can be challenging for any young player, but Bartholdsson was able to adapt quickly to different leagues.
