On March 6, 2026, Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney made a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers involving prospects. The Bruins traded forward Brett Harrison and defenseman Jackson Edward in exchange for Massimo Rizzo and Alexis Gendron. After being acquired, Gendron spent the rest of the season in the American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins.
Yesterday, news broke out that Gendron didn’t receive a qualifying offer from Boston. However, Gendron will be with the Bruins organization. Today, Gendron signed a one-year AHL contract with Providence.
Gendron was the former 220th overall pick of the 2022 National Hockey League Draft by the Flyers. At 22 years old, Gendron has yet to play in an NHL game. Gendron has spent the majority of his hockey career in the QMJHL and AHL after being drafted. However, the 2024-25 season was when Gendron’s potential in the AHL grew, as he scored 20 goals and finished with 28 points for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
After being acquired by the Bruins, Gendron recorded three points in ten AHL games for Providence to conclude the regular season. Gendron recorded a two-assist game against Lehigh Valley on March 18, then scored his first goal as a Bruin the next game on March 20. Gendron played in just one game during the 2026 AHL Playoffs for Providence, during which he recorded no points. Gendron has recorded 60 points in 137 games for Lehigh Valley and Providence in his AHL career.
