The Boston Bruins have just announced that they have signed goaltender Luke Cavallin to a one-year, two-way contract extension with a National Hockey League cap hit of $850,000. The news comes just a few hours before the start of NHL free agency.
Cavallin, 25, split time this season between the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League and the Maine Mariners of the East Coast Hockey League, though a majority was in the ECHL. In 34 games played with the Mariners, Cavallin recorded 18 wins and a save percentage of .917. His goals against average was solid, as well, at 2.35.
In eight games with the Providence Bruins this season, Cavallin recorded a .910 save percentage and 2.47 goals against. With Cavallin signed through next season, the Bruins now have six goaltenders under contract for the 2026-27 season: Jeremy Swayman, Joonas Korpisalo, Michael DiPietro, Simon Zajicek, Luke Cavallin, and Max Lundgren.
