This past weekend, the Maine Mariners announced that former forward Sebastian Vidmar would join the front office as the team’s new Community & Player Relations Coordinator. To begin the new week, the Mariners re-signed forward Ryan McGuire for the upcoming 2026-27 ECHL season.
McGuire, 24, is native of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec. McGuire was acquired by the Mariners this past March after he was re-assigned by the American Hockey League’s Iowa Wild. McGuire played in 50 games combined for the Iowa Heartlanders and Mariners in the 2025-26 ECHL season, as well as two games in the AHL with the Wild.
As a Mariner after being acquired, McGuire recorded two assists with a +2 rating in 15 games. McGuire recorded his first point as a Mariner on April 10, recording the secondary assist on Mitch Deelstra’s goal against the Norfolk Admirals, and that goal turned out to be the game-winning goal. McGuire followed it up by recording his second assist with the Mariners the very next game. McGuire also played in two games for the Mariners during the 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs against the Wheeling Nailers in the North Division Finals series, but recorded no points.
In his ECHL career, McGuire has recorded 15 points in 58 games. Now, McGuire will be eager to make a huge contribution for the Mariners in a full season.
