Last week, the Maine Mariners made two transactions by re-signing defenseman Xavier Henry and signing forward David Jankowski. Today, the Maine Mariners made another transaction by re-signing forward Jackson Stewart for the upcoming 2026-27 ECHL season. This season will be Stewart’s third in the ECHL.
Stewart, 22, is a native of Norwood, Ontario. The Mariners acquired Stewart during the 2024-25 ECHL season in a trade with the Bloomington Bison. That season, combined with Bloomington and Maine, Stewart recorded no points and posted a -5 rating.
Last season, Stewart got little playing time for the Mariners. Stewart recorded just two assists in 14 games. Stewart played his first game last season on Oct. 31, then didn’t return to the lineup until mid-January. Although he didn’t score his first ECHL goal, Stewart recorded his first ECHL point on a Mitch Deelstra goal. Stewart recorded an assist just two games later, but then scored no points in his final ten games. Stewart didn’t play in any of the Mariners’ 14 games in the 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Stewart had recorded two assists in 41 games in his ECHL career. Re-signing Stewart gives the Mariners depth up front for this upcoming season. While he hasn’t produced much offense, Stewart isn’t afraid to drop the gloves and spark the Mariners if needed. Stewart will be motivated for another season in Maine.
